Raptors' Kawhi Leonard reportedly won't attend USA Basketball minicamp

Kawhi Leonard was on the list of 35 players selected to sign up in USA Basketball's minicamp on July 25. While most from the roster will go to Las Vegas, Leonard has chosen to skip the c's's camp. 
Leonard, instead, choose to use his time within the offseason to ready for his transition for the Toronto Raptors, in accordance with ESPN's Chris Haynes. The 27-year-old was involved in the multi-player trade that sent DeMar DeRozan on the San Antonio Spurs. The trade didn't become official until July 24, when Leonard passed his NBA Live Mobile Coins physical with Toronto.
Before the Spurs traded Leonard, the assumption was how the All-Star was 'seriously considering' participating inside camp led by San Antonio head coach Gregg Popovich. The feeling didn't change when he was crowned the newest member on the Raptors. Two days before the beginning of camp, Leonard was expected to get in Las Vegas but his participation was "up inside air," in accordance with TSN's Josh Lewenberg. 
But after spending the very last seven years in San Antonio, Leonard's priority is changing to Toronto and hubby's taking his time. He's already visited the Raptors' practice facility while president Masai Ujiri functions to help the Los Angeles native, who's got one year remaining on his contract, assimilate alive in Toronto. 
"I don’t think we lack anything with this city," Ujiri said after a press conference on July 20. "We have great fans, we have a fantastic organization, we have a fantastic following. I think we have an excellent country. There’s something relating to this place reaches out towards the whole world."
With Leonard's absence, Kyle Lowry will are the Raptors' lone representative at the three-day camp.
USA Basketball caused it to be clear that attendance on the camp isn't mandatory, so Leonard isn't likely to receive any discipline for his decision. In 2016, Leonard withdrew his name from consideration for USA's Olympic team but said he hoped he'll almost certainly "contain the chance to represent my country by playing for USA Basketball" inside future.
Leonard joins Warriors' star Stephen Curry, who prefers to spend time along with his family, and LeBron James, who joined the Los Angeles Lakers from the offseason, as notable players who won't stay in Las Vegas with the camp.
